Bay County authorities are calling this weekend's death during the Gulf Coast Triathlon an accidental drowning.

Rescuers pulled Patrick Kane of Roswell, Georgia, out of the Gulf Saturday morning, toward the end of the swimming portion of the competition.

Paramedics took him to the hospital, where he died a short time later.

Kane's family requested the local medical examiner's office not perform an autopsy.

So, Wednesday his death was officially listed as an accidental drowning.
