The new Bay County Library is complete and ready for its grand opening. All you avid readers will have to wait until tomorrow to check out your first book, but you can get your first glimpse right now.
The library in Panama City has given the community a place to research, meet, and enjoy a good book for 94 years. The new library will do all those things and much more.
Joyce Dannecker, Library Director, said, "What is wonderful about this new library is that it is much more spacious. People look at this building and say it's huge. Yes, it is."
If you like fiction, they've got it. If you enjoy non-fiction, it's here too, but something you might not be used to is the new children's area.
"One of the really super nice things is that the leadership class for 2007, 2008 has given a particular thing that is going to be a surprise. It has all kinds of things, interesting things that the children are going to enjoy exploring."
The new building offers 55,000 square feet of meeting rooms, reading areas, and over 138,000 books and magazines.
"We're ready; we are so excited about having people back in the library."
Whether you're researching a paper for class or just want to read a good mystery, you be able to find it in the new state of the art Bay County Library.
The grand opening for the library is set for 9 a.m. tomorrow. It's located on West 11th Street in Panama City.
