MEXICO BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Sunset Park was filled Saturday with gumbo lovers.
More than 1,000 people came out for the 18th annual Gumbo Cook-Off in Mexico Beach.
About 25 local chefs and businesses went head-to-head to see who has the best recipe in the area.
The park was lined with vendors eager to have guests try their gumbo and BBQ.
Officials with the Mexico Beach Community Development Council say the turn-out keeps getting bigger each year.
"People have just come to this event, they know this event, they tell their friends about our event," Kimberly Shoaf, the President of the Mexico Beach CDC. "They just keep coming. We've had a steady flow of people coming out to support our event and we've just had a great day."
All proceeds from the Gumbo Fest will go towards Mexico Beach's 4th of July Beach Blast.
