The Coast Guard from Panama City rescued a man Wednesday morning hanging onto a capsized boat in the Gulf of Mexico near the St. Andrew Bay entrance channel.
A Good Samaritan called the Coast Guard around 7:30 Wednesday morning reporting there was a man on the capsized boat suffering from hypothermia. The caller says he tried but was unable to get the man off the boat by himself because of his serious life threatening state.
The local Coast Guard was on the scene in just under seven minutes. The crew took the man to the downtown marina where Bay EMS transported him to a local hospital.
No information was available about the man’s name, age or hometown or how the boat capsized. It's believed he was in the water for a number of hours.
