Shortly before sundown Wednesday searchers recovered the body of a missing man from the waters of the Apalachicola River near Bristol Landing.

Shortly before sundown Wednesday searchers recovered the body of a missing man from the waters of the Apalachicola River near Bristol Landing.

24 year old Zack Barber had been missing since he fell into the river near the Bristol Landing Monday night..

Searchers recovered his body around 5 PM Wednesday about 2 miles down stream in an area known as Mason’s Landing.

Barber was an Iraq War Veteran and served as a Calhoun County Sheriff’s Deputy in 2005.

He was not wearing a life jacket when he fell into the water.

Members of the Gulf County Rescue Squad and members of the Bay, Leon and Liberty County Sheriff’s Departments’ dive teams took part in the two day search effort.

God Blees the Family of Mr Barber. Eveyone should look at him and learn a lesson. No matter how good of a swimmer you are and how many times you hae been on this river you still need a lif vest. God Bless you Mrs Barber and you new baby.
