Gov. Jeb Bush announced his transportation funding program, and some big dollars are planned for the Panama City area.
The plan calls buying the right of way needed is 2011 for the six-laning of 23rd Street near West 98, construction of the roadway, a bridge and associated ramps for the upgrade of the 23rd Street and West 98 intersection.
Future improvements to Highway 79 associated with the new Panama City Airport are scheduled in 2007, and several railroad and roadway improvements at Port Panama City are planned from 2006 to 2011.
In Walton County, the governor's plan called for acquisition of right of way US 331 from south of Freeport to the Choctawhatchee Bay bridge.
Dozens of other smaller projects were listed for some area counties.
