Okaloosa County authorities say they found buried bank loot after inmates told police where a convicted bank robber hid the money.
The Sheriff's Office reports that two county jail inmates overheard 26-year-old Julian Leon Jordan telling someone where he hid $5,000. Jordan was convicted of stealing the money from a bank in Ft. Walton Beach on November 18 of last year.
But after investigators searched the spot in Fort Walton Beach last month, they walked away empty handed.
A week later, another man told authorities he'd been in jail with Jordan and that the convicted robber gave him specific instructions as to where he hid the money. Investigators finally found the cash wrapped in a plastic bag.
Authorities say the informant wasn't arrested because he was cooperating with law enforcement.
Jordan is scheduled to be sentenced on November 21.
