Second Time in Two Days, Two Are Dead in Walton Domestic Violence Cases

Walton County sheriff’s investigators are investigating a Saturday afternoon domestic dispute that left two persons dead.

At 2:10 p.m. Walton County 9-1-1 received a call that a shooting had occurred in the Black Creek area southeast of Freeport.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence at 23 West Edgewater Street in the Creekside subdivision. Upon arrival, deputies found a Hispanic male and a black female suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Walton County EMS and the Freeport Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the female victim to an area hospital. The female, later identified as Daisy May Bell, age 34, was pronounced dead a short time after arriving at the hospital.

The male, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene. Both subjects suffered apparent gunshot wounds to the head and Bell had other wounds as well.

Two pre-school children who were in the residence at the time of the incident were placed in the care of the Department of Children and Families.

Walton County sheriff’s investigators are continuing the investigation into this incident in conjunction with the Medical Examiner’s Office of the 1st Judicial Circuit.
