More than 1,000 Katrina evacuees remain in Bay County, and with winter quickly approaching they desperately need warm clothes.
The Katrina Free Store in Panama City Beach is asking for men's, women's and children's winter clothing for hurricane victims.
The store also needs toiletries, baby products, and children's holiday toys, and they can use holiday cards so evacuees can mail them to their friends and families.
Rick Dye of the Homeless and Hunger Coalition says right now there's an urgent need for the cold weather clothes.
"We are in dire need of winter clothes with temps dipping into the 30's these people are left with just the clothes on their backs. We've been able to get several fall clothes but now we need winter jackets sweaters and sweatshirts."
You can make donations Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Katrina Free Store on Back Beach Road across from Home Helpers two miles west of Highway 79.
