2 Year Anniversary of Diver Disappearance

Updated: Sat 1:33 PM, Aug 18, 2012

It's been two years since the disappearance of Ben McDaniel. The Collierville, Tennessee native was last seen diving at Vortex Springs in Ponce de Leon, but police are still trying to piece together what happened after that.

While the mystery has baffled authorities and divers, it hasn't stopped their search.

Holmes County Sheriff's Department authorities say expert cave divers have explored the cave and have video as far back as a person can go and still have seen no sign of McDaniel or his time back there. Police have reviewed the video and say they don't have any evidence that causes them to believe they missed anything.

McDaniel's family had offered $30,000.00 for anyone who could offer information that lead to their son or who could find their son's body. However, they dropped that offer in April after receiving backlash from the cave diving community, saying the money put diver's lives in danger.

The case is still considered a missing person's case. If you have any information, contact the Holmes County Sheriff's Office at (850) 547-3681.
