They planned to be married at their house in St. Bernard Parish, but three months ago Hurricane Katrina swept through their home taking everything in her path, including Margaret's wedding gown.
"This was a special occasion for her and when she came in I wanted to have the right dress, and when she tried on this dress she began to cry and then she didn't want to take it off."
"The dress was $75, and I didn't even have $75 to my name."
"I started breaking down and crying and she told me not to worry about the price of the dress, that it was mine."
"You know, they say angels fly really close to the ground, and she was. She was the only person that gave me hope."
Margaret felt like a princess for the first time in a long time.
"And it zipped straight up. It wasn't the same pattern, but you could see the little daisy in it. It was more beautiful than anything."
And as for her wedding, Margaret and Donald will wait till their home again.
"We don't care if it's in the backyard. Home is where the heart is, and I guess that's a good start."
Margaret and her fiancé Donald plan to get married as soon as they get back into Louisiana and can begin repairing their home.
