Callaway Gets Affordable Housing

Residents living in the Bay Pine RV Resort pay about $230 a month, including utilities, and they want to stay put, but new developers are trying to build on top of these affordable houses with more affordable houses, and residents aren't buying it.

Residents say they recently noticed signs posted around the neighborhood, warning of annexation, and they say it couldn't have come at a worse time, but the developer doesn't see himself as some kind of a scrooge. In fact, he says he's trying to help bay pine residents.

After existing residents have their pick, they're leaving open slots for public service workers, then teachers. They're meeting with residents individually to discuss monetary issues.

The new homes will be available in March. Plans call for about 170 single family homes, with the price ranging from $115,000 to $189,000.
