The deaths of a local woman and her six-month-old baby in September of last year have landed an Ohio man in prison for life.
Timothy Wayne Chilton, 45, of Dayton, Ohio, was sentenced to life in prison in Bay County Circuit Court Wednesday. Chilton was convicted on October 6, 2005, of two counts of Vehicular Homicide and one count of Leaving the Scene of a Accident Involving Death.
Killed in the September 18, 2004 collision were 28-year-old Jenni Power and her six-month-old son, John, who were in a vehicle stopped at a light at the intersection of Thomas Drive and Highway 98 just west of the bridge.
A Florida Highway Patrol investigation led to the arrest of Chilton approximately 10 hours after the wreck.
Assistant State Attorney Brian Kelley successfully argued that Chilton’s extensive prior record qualified him to sentenced to more than the statutory maximum of 45 years.
