Midday Blaze Destroys Trailer, Van

A fire destroyed a mobile home Wednesday in Springfield, just off Transmitter Road.

Early Wednesday afternoon the fire quickly got out of control destroying the home and a van.

Witnesses say that the fire was started during a domestic argument when one of the five residents there threw kerosene on a van parked outside the trailer.

They lit the van on fire and the flames quickly got out of control and caught the mobile home on fire.

Nothing is left of the home or van, and the Red Cross is helping the family by giving vouchers for clothing and shelter.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office. Neighbors say alcohol may have played a part in the incident.
