Washington County commissioners voted to approve an auxiliary committee to fight the natural gas pipeline that will be constructed on the southern portion of the county.
The group will be composed of property owners affected by the pipeline and county commissioners.
Officials say the committee will help land owners negotiate with the Florida Gas and Transmission Company, the group constructing the pipeline.
Many residents on the proposed pipeline route are worried that FGT will use eminent domain to take their property, but they say the concerns will go far beyond property lines.
"Someone is going to have to pay to move the road, someone going to have to pay to move the electricity, and that's not just going to fall just on the county residents, that's not just going to fall on Debera Horvack."
The project will run about 500 miles pipe, stretching from Texas to South Florida. The gas piped will help solve energy supply concerns in the southern part of the state.
