Local Man Indicted by Grand Jury in Beach Murder Case

We finally get some answers in an unsolved murder case.

It happened at The First Baptist Church of Panama City Beach that was under construction in at Cobb Road and Back Beach Road.

Beach police held a news conference this morning with new information in the August 10th, 2010 shooting death of a contractor named Bobby Ellison who was working on the new church building.

After nearly three years of investigating the police department went before the Bay County Grand Jury presenting it with the evidence. The 18 member jury issued an indictment on murder charges and issued a warrant for the arrest of 48-year-old Christopher Ray Hyler of 1009 Spring Ave in Panama City..

Hyler was a tenant of Ellison’s and according to the beach police had even become friends with Stephanie Ellison, Bobby's wife.

Ellison was the contractor building the new sanctuary for the First Baptist Church of Panama City Beach where he was shot and killed.

Hyler was arrested and booked into the Bay County Jail Thursday night.
