The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Niceville man with attempted murder – domestic violence in connection with a shooting incident June 22nd.

When deputies arrived at 1177 Troon Drive in Niceville around six o’clock Sunday night, they found the defendant, 84-year old Frederick Fonville Gafford, in his garage holding a gun.

The victim, Patricia Williams, has lived with Gafford for nearly seventeen years. She told deputies Gafford was intoxicated when he picked her up at the airport Sunday.

Shortly after getting home, he reached into his computer desk, pulled out a .38 revolver, pointed it at her and pulled the trigger. The bullet only grazed her scalp and Williams ran out of the house to a neighbor’s. She declined to go to a hospital.

Gafford told investigators he doesn’t remember what took place at his home.
