Good News for Berg Workers

The jobs picture at Berg Pipe is looking better, thanks to two big new contracts.

The company at Port Panama City has won new contracts calling for 200 miles of large diameter steel pipe to be delivered in the first half of 2006.

Berg will be making 80 miles of 36 inch diameter pipe for a Texas firm which plans to use the pipe to transport natural gas from the Rocky Mountains to a major transmission line.

A Denver firm has given Berg an order for 120 miles of 42 inch pipe, which will also be used in transporting natural gas in the Rocky Mountain area.

Berg says it will be recalling some laid off workers and hiring some new ones as well.
