A man accused of killing a Panama City Beach police officer is being evaluated on his mental competency.
Robert Bailey is facing murder charges in connection with shooting and killing Officer Kevin Kight back in the spring.
Bailey’s attorney, Walter Smith, filed motions to determine Bailey's mental competency to stand trial and whether he is mentally retarded.
Two doctors have evaluated bailey so far. Smith says Bailey suffers from nine different disorders. State Attorney Steve Meadows agreed to choose another doctor to conduct an exam, and the trial begins the last week of January.
Meanwhile, Bailey's girlfriend has been arrested in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Twenty-three-year-old Andrea Guinette is a suspect in a smuggling incident of hacksaw blades given to Bailey while he was in the Bay County Jail.
