A Fort Walton Beach man is charged with aggravated battery with a firearm following a shooting Thursday morning at 220 Cypress Street.
Investigators with the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office say 27-year-old Wallace L. Morris, Jr., shot 23-year-old Tremaine Douglas Knox in the lower right leg during a drug related argument.
The two men were apparently struggling over the weapon when Knox was shot.
Deputy David Bowell spotted Morris in a car near the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Windham Avenue in Ft. Walton Beach approximately ten minutes after the shooting.
Morris was taken into custody without incident. A 45 caliber handgun was recovered from the suspect’s apartment off Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. Knox was taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center for treatment.
