Two Arrested in Murder for Hire Scheme

A local woman is behind bars charged with trying to hire a hit man to kill her military husband of one year.

According to the Bay County Sheriff's Office, the wife is only 17 years old.

Investigators say Amanda Huffman Reeves set up an appointment with what she thought was a hit man. Turns out it was an undercover officer.

Reeves and another woman, 23-year-old Rachael Lee Anderson, met the officer in a local motel room. Investigators say Reeves told the undercover officer she would pay him once her husband was dead and she collected life insurance money.

She reportedly gave the officer a picture of her husband, a large butcher knife and a piece of jewelry as collateral.

Reeves then called her husband, who had been informed of the plot by investigators, and asked him to meet her at under the Under the Oaks Park in Parker.

That's when officers arrested the two women charging them with solicitation to commit murder.

Reeves husband is stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base.
