There's more good news from Apalachicola Oystermen. The state is allowing another section of the bay to reopen for shell fishing Friday Morning.
The Florida Department of Agriculture's Shellfish Division says it’s reopening a large portion of the eastern part of Apalachicola Bay, known as section 16-42.
The eastern portion of the bay is reportedly oyster rich and is considered by many to contain a major portion of the county's oyster crop.
The eastern portion of the bay has been closed since early August because of Red Tide. The state had reopened the western part of the bay earlier this month.
