A case of "hood surfing" has left an Okaloosa County teenager hospitalized in critical condition.
It happened late Sunday afternoon on West Sunset Blvd in Ft. Walton Beach.
The Florida Highway Patrol says four teenagers were in a car when one of them, 18-year-old Robert Lewis Thompson, had the driver stop while he got out and climbed onto the hood so he could “hood surf."
As the car started, Lewis was thrown onto the pavement, was run over and was dragged 39 feet.
He was life-flighted to Pensacola Baptist Hospital.
The Florida Highway Patrol says charges against the driver, Ashley Elizabeth Cicik, 15, of Mary Esther are pending.
