The 14th Judicial Circuit, which covers Bay, Washington, Holmes, Jackson, Calhoun and Gulf Counties, has a new judge, James B. Fensom.
Fenson was sworn in as the area's newest judge Friday afternoon by Florida Supreme Court Justice Charles T. Wells.
This will be Fenson's first time on the bench. He has been in private legal practice in Bay County for the past 30 years.
As the investiture ceremony got underway, Supreme Court Justice Charkes Wells took a chance to remind Fensom about the importance of his new position.
"The circuit judges and the county judges, there is probably no government official with more power."
Judge Fensom is filling a new judicial position added to the 14th Circuit last year by the Florida Legislature.
