A lot of the nation's college students are planning for spring break 2006, and the hot destination this year is shaping up to be Panama City Beach.
That's according to AP9 Simple Escapes, a national discount travel agency which says our night life and the relaxing beaches are what makes the area tops.
The local Tourist Development Council/Convention Visitors Bureau says we can expect 400,000 to 500,000 Spring Breakers again this year, and it definitely helps the local economy pulling in an estimated $60 million.
Bob Warren of the TDC/CVB says the area is tops.
"We will begin our promotions the last week of February and go right up to the first week of April. We are marketing to about 150 college campuses east of the Mississippi."
There are about 7,000 motel, hotel and condo units available locally for spring break this year.
