We are getting more information on what was initially reported as a robbery at a fast food restaurant in the 10,000 block of Front Beach Road early Wednesday morning.
Twenty-five-year-old Walter James Roberts told police he was shot in his left hand and also in his left shoulder while he was attempting to get into his vehicle that was in the parking lot of a restaurant in front of the Wal-Mart Supercenter.
Roberts said he was then abducted by two men and driven around for several hours in his car, a 1996 black Chevy Caprice with 18 inch chrome wheels.
According to police, Roberts eventually escaped and made his way to Gulf Coast Hospital. But police say his story really doesn't match up.
"At this point to say right now, the victim is being less than cooperative with us. He has a past so that may shed some light on why he's not being as cooperative as the normal victim would," Major Dave Humphreys, of the Panama City Beach Police said.
If you have any information or may have been in the area at the time, police are asking for your help. Give them at call at 233-5000.
