A Hurlburt Field airman, hurt in a traffic incident in Fayetteville, North Carolina, is still in critical condition.
Airman First Class Gerald Winn, Jr. suffered severe head injuries Monday morning.
He was standing in the parking lot of a Bojangles restaurant when a Waste Management garbage truck hit a utility pole. The pole fell, hitting Winn and a van that was parked nearby.
Paramedics took Winn to the University of North Carolina Medical Center in Chapel Hill. The garbage truck driver was treated for minor injuries.
Winn is assigned to the Air Force 16th Special Operations Wing at Hurlburt, but was on a temporary duty assignment at Pope Air Force Base.
