An area Circuit Judge has sentenced a Holmes County mother to 25 years in prison for killing her two young sons.
Last month a Bonifay jury found 34-year-old Sherry Jean Overstreet guilty of two counts of DUI Manslaughter.
Overstreet was reportedly drunk on the night of May 9, 2004, when she slammed her vehicle into a utility pole on Holmes County Highway 179-A north of Westville.
Her sons, aged 12 and 9, were killed in the crash.
Witnesses testified the boys had been at a birthday party, while Overstreet went to a bar.
Circuit Judge Allen Register sentenced the woman to 25 years in prison for the two DUI Manslaughter convictions and one year in the Holmes County Jail for the charge of DUI with property damage.
She could have faced up to 30 years in prison.
