Two people died in a two car crash on US Highway 90 in Ponce De Leon in Holmes County.
Dead are the two drivers, 78-year-old Elwood Enfinger of DeFuniak Springs and 18-year-old Jason Adam Kirkland of Bonifay.
The Florida Highway Patrol says the vehicles were headed in opposite directions on the two lane highway. Enfinger was traveling on the wrong side of the roadway when Kirkland, the teenager, applied his brakes and tried to avoid a collision, but both crashed head on.
Both were wearing seat belts, but both died at the scene. The accident happened shortly before 11 Thursday night.
Meanwhile, Panama City police are investigating a traffic accident which occurred around 1:45 Friday morning on US 231 in Bayou George, which claimed one life.
A 17-year-old local girl and a 15-year-old friend were walking in the northbound lanes of 231 when a car struck her from behind. She was killed instantly. The second girl was not injured. The driver of the car, an Alabama resident, has not been charged. The names of the girls are being withheld at this time.
Panama City Police say the 15 year old girl, who survived the accident, was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. Toxicology reports have not yet been completed on the 17 year old victim who died.
