A | A | A

The Florida Department of Education has released the grading of individual schools, and Bay County school officials say they're thrilled. 20 Bay County schools are ranked as A's this year. That's compared to 18 last year.

2008
7 "B" Schools
5 "C" Schools
0 "D" Schools
0 "F" Schools

Seven schools are B's and five schools are C's. This year there are no schools in the county graded as D's or F's.

Overall Bay is ranked 16th out of the state's 67 school districts. Bay district, as a whole, is also rated as an "A", which is an improvement from a "B" last year.

Bay County School Supt. James McCalister was really pleased.

"I just want to congratulate our parents, our teachers, our support personnel and our administrators for the great job that they have done. And the community has played a part in this as well. And we're just delighted for what we have done."
