Seventy-eight-year-old Walter J. Heitman, a retired Air Force Master Sergeant here in Bay County, bought the only winning ticket for last Friday night's drawing.
He picked it up at Albertson's on Highway 77 at 23rd Street, across from the Panama City Mall.
The winning ticket is worth one and a half million dollars, but Heitman is taking the lump sum cash payout, so Monday the Florida lottery presented him with a check for $1.97 million.
Heitmnan says he plans to buy a new car, paint his house and get some new carpeting.
Albertsons, by the way, is the same store where a winning lotto ticket was sold late last year.
