Two Men Are Jailed in Two Seperate Area Sex Cases

A Gulf County man has been arrested on charges he raped a four-year-old girl.

Gulf County sheriff's deputies arrested 35-year-old Carlee Daniels, Jr., of Wewahitchka.

Investigators say they were first alerted to the case when the young girl told a school resource officer what had happened to her in the past.

Daniels is being charged with sexual battery on a child under 12 and is being held in the county jail in Port St. Joe.

Meanwhile, in a separate unrelated sex case, a probation officer in Jackson County has been arrested on charges he had sex with someone under his supervision.

Fifty-seven-year-old Melvin Joe Canoy of Cottondale is being charged with sexual misconduct by an employee of the Department of Corrections.

Investigators tell NewsChannel Seven Canoy had sex with an offender between January of 2004 and March of 2006.

Canoy was arrested in Marianna. His bond was set at $7,500.
