Destin Fatal Bicycle Crash

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a bicyclist who was struck by a car just after 7 a.m. Thursday.  It happened in Destin near the intersection of Highway 98 and Vinings Way.

DESTIN, Fla.-- The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a bicyclist who was struck by a pick up truck just after 7 a.m. Thursday. It happened in Destin near the intersection of Highway 98 and Vinings Way.

The female bicyclist was pronounced dead after being transported by ambulance to Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast in South Walton County.

The victim was identified as 20 year old Parichat Chatmas from Bangkok, Thailand. She was here on a J-1 Cultural Exchange Visa and had just arrived in Destin on March 14th.

She was trying to cross US 98 on her way to work at a McDonalds in south Walton County.
