Property Sellers Look for Ways to Sell
Auctions could be the new trend, but even those aren't doing as well as they used to. Posted: 4:33 PM Jul 17, 2008 Condo Auctions |

Property owners are running into trouble trying to sell these days. Some sellers are trying auctions, but even there the buyers aren't paying the prices some sellers want for their property.
There are several auctions scheduled this summer to try and sell property, but the market is making the payoff lower than what it used to be.
Property auctions are a good way to sell property if there are willing buyers.
John Roebuck with Roebuck Auctions said "The auction is the way today to sell property, and while the market is the way it is it's a struggle for all of us, but we can't do anything about the market it kind of dictates itself.
Back in June the National Auction Company hoped to sell 25-luxury units at the Marina Landing project at the foot of the Hathaway Bridge.
Only four were sold, at a much lower price than expected, so the absolute auction was suspended. At the Bay Point Marriot on Thursday, Roebuck Auctions looked to sell several properties including the Islander Motel on Front Beach, but it didn't go for the amount they were looking for.
The highest bid was $3,575,000, but the auctioneer asked for higher with no takers. Roebuck says that more work would be done behind the scenes to sell the properties up for auction, but people need to think about buying now while the prices are lower.
"We're in a buyer's market right now. Buyers need to be buying because now is the time to buy. Many think it's not hit bottom. I personally think it is, so I think it's time to buy.”
Even though sellers aren't getting the prices they want, it seems like auctions are working better than putting a price tag on it and taking your chances selling it.
"In the last quarter of this year there's no telling how many properties are going to be sold at auction. I just want to encourage the sellers to understand the market's bad and sell it, and encourage the buyers it's the time to buy.”
Roebuck Auctions will hold a property auction on July 31st on Front Beach Road. The National Auction Company will hold another absolute auction on August 2 at the Palaaza Resort and Hotel on Front Beach Road.
