Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort has added two new reasons to hang around Baytowne Wharf this summer. The resort has added a ropes course and a zip line that propels guests 52 feet above a lagoon.

The zip line hangs 52 feet above the ground and soars 650 feet across Baytowne Wharf's lagoon. The vice president of resort activities says it's like nothing this resort has ever seen.

Matt Lindley, VP of Resort Activities, said, "It started with a couple of drawings on a napkin and we did some research on the Internet and quickly figured out it would be a great addition to the village."

I got a chance to preview the zip line before it opened to the public at 3 o'clock, and before I jumped off the platform I had one thing to say, but once I got hooked up and took a running start it was smooth sailing.

Some other brave souls lined up behind me to experience the new adventure and had their own take on the experience.

Trent Dodson said, "It was a little scary at first, but then it felt like you were just gliding over nothing."

If you're not sure about heights, the village also offers a ropes obstacle course that tests your balance and coordination.

Workers say people have shown a lot of interest in the new attractions, but would the riders recommend it again?

Nick Tomezek said, "I recommend it for anyone else who'd like to try it."

"If you're not scared of heights, you need to do this, but if you are you better stay away from it because you're gonna get scared."

Anyone can visit the village and zip across the new line. The ropes course is $12 and the zip line is $18.
