The Bay County Board of Commissioners played host to the project development and environmental study at the Lynn Haven City Hall annex.

The open house was a time for folks to come in and see maps and information on plans to widen County Road 390 between State Road 77 and U.S. 231 from 2 lanes to 4.

Project team members were on hand to answer any questions about the project and take any feedback from residents there.

The proposed plan does not include widening 390 between 23rd Street and Highway 77 because that portion of 390 is a state road.

Most of the folks on the county side can't wait for construction to begin.

Will Stewart, County Consultant, said, "This is the county road portion of 390 from 77 to 231. The county is looking at increasing the 2 lane roads to 4 lanes by widening within the right of way."

Tanya Staats, a resident, said, “I'm very excited about what's happening here. I've seen so many close accidents. I've seen people pulling out in front of each other because of the irritation of how much traffic is there. From 389 towards Lynn Haven, I've counted as many as over 40 cars waiting at the light, so this is going to be a tremendous improvement to our neighborhood."

Estimates for the cost of the project are about $40 million. If funding is available, the project could be completed within the next 5 to 7 years.
