A Wewahitchka woman and a Panama City man are dead following a single car crash Thursday afternoon in Marianna.
Killed in the crash was the driver, Elbony Veronica Smith Cole, 23 of Wewahitchka and passenger Franklin Demond Fennel, 36 of Panama City.
The crash happened on County Road 167 three miles south of Marianna shortly after noon Thursday.
The Florida Highway Patrol says Cole was traveling south at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate a curve and crashed into a large oak tree.
Troopers say Fennel died at the scene and Cole was taken to Jackson Hospital where she died later.

I don't think that they necessarily should take driver's licenses from people 65 years and older but, I do believe that there should be a yearly driver's test. I agree that younger drivers are not as experienced as older driver's however, if you'll do your research you will see that per 10,000 drivers in Florida, the rate of traffic crashes and fatalities starts to increase steadily again starting at ages 65-69. So, it's not about stupidity in anyone, if that were the case, 98% of the population would not be allowed to have a driver's license. In SOME of the younger and SOME of the olders driver's one of the factor's is "knowing it all."

licens over 65 . the law says that 40 and under causes more wrecks than over 40 then why do they want to take licens away from 65 yr old . the 65 people paid for the highway to be built with their tax so why can,t they use it . just watch people driving and who is the more reckless and speeding and you will see who don,t need licens and it not 65 yr olds if the young want to speed then build their highway and kill their self and leave the old people alone .they are more experienced and drive the speed limit more safely i guess some younger people are 2 stupid to look and see for their self who is more law abiding and if you are driving the limit they want to take the chance and try to go around you so they think they can get there quicker and kill you and their self . look at the arest reports state wide and you can see
