A 31-year-old man is dead after an early morning car accident Sunday.

Florida Highway Patrol said it happened around 3:15 Sunday morning off County Road 268 just one mile south of Gretna.

Thirty-one-year-old Joe Denson of Gretna was driving west on 268 in a 2005 Ford truck when it left the road. He drove it onto the north shoulder, hitting a large tree.

FHP said Denson was pronounced dead at the scene. FHA was assisted by Gretna Police Department, Gadsden County Sheriff's Office and Quincy Fire Department.
