Construction begins on the final 10 mile leg of State Road 79 in Bay County Monday. If you'll be traveling through this construction area you're asked to do so with caution.

The multi-lane work is starting at the West Bay Bridge and goes all the way up to Steelfield Road in northern Bay County, Chipley area.

The current plans, costing $9.22 million, include making the two-lane road a four-lane road. They'll be adding paved shoulders, a 40 foot wide median, turn lanes and upgrading the drainage system, and for all you cyclists. You'll be glad to hear they’re adding a bicycle lane section near the Woodville area.

The works not expected to last longer than 350 days. Again, you're reminded to drive cautiously through this 10-mile construction zone.

Remember that speeding violations double when workers are present.
