The Winn-Dixie store on 23rd Street in Panama City reopened its doors to the community by giving back.

One of the ways the store celebrated its grand opening was by handing over a $25,000 check to the Panama City Rescue Mission's "Bethel Village Recovery Program."

Both the rescue mission's executive director and the store manager admitted the check came with a little help from above.

Rev. Billy E. Fox, Executive Director, said, "Tuesday we looked and said that program’s gonna be in the hole and ‘ahhhh.’ The lady called and I just called my board members and said, 'oh, you of little faith."

Kevin Anglin, store manager, said, "$25,000 is what they needed, and with a little help from above they got the help."

Kevin Anglin said everybody has to eat, so they often deal with homeless people on a daily basis. He says it's merely two great organizations banning together to help the marginalized of the community.

Besides the check donation, Winn-Dixie celebrated their grand opening with a little face painting and some other summertime activities.

If you'd like to donate or volunteer your time to the rescue mission, you can get in touch with them at 774-8410.
