Bay County has 54 precincts and it takes between 5 and 11 volunteers to run each.
Most of the necessary positions are full, but back-ups are needed to ensure everything runs smoothly on Election Day.
If you'd like to volunteer the process includes a 30-minute orientation test and a 2 1/2 hour training course. There are some incentives to working the polls. Volunteers are paid a small wage for their time.
"You can make anywhere from $90.00 in certain areas, to $110.00, up to $200.00 depending on the position you get certified for and trained for, so it does involve money. But I can assure you it isn't just about the money, it's about wanting to take care of the people that are going there to vote," said Mark Andersen, Bay Co. Supervisor of Elections.
You can contact the Supervisor of Election’s Office at (850) 784-6100 for more information on how to volunteer.
