The death of 63-year-old Nancy Garrett has taken a strange turn. Bay County Sheriff Frank McKeithen says the death is one of the most bizarre cases he has seen.
Mrs. Garrett disappeared Sunday afternoon after leaving her Lisenby Avenue home to go walking.
A search Monday turned up nothing, but Tuesday her body was found in a shed in woods behind the Garrett home.
An autopsy revealed the victim died from a single gunshot wound, which came from a family-owned firearm.
McKeithen said the body was not in that shed Monday, and was definitely moved there after the woman had died.
McKeithen's investigators aren't ready to call this a murder or a suicide, but the family members who had access to the gun are suspects.
"We have found every interview we've conducted has been suspicious. This is not the normal case. Some of the information we're finding out is very suspicious."
McKeithen wants to stress they do not believe there is a murderer on the loose responsible for this crime.
