Holmes County sheriff's officials became the target of a drowning hoax Tuesday.

Holmes County sheriff's officials became the target of a drowning hoax Tuesday.
Authorities say a man from Hartford, Alabama, called a 911 in Geneva County, Alabama and reported a relative of his had drown in Sand Hammock Pond near the Esto community.
Alabama officials contacted Holmes County.
For several hours authorities searched bodies of water in the Holmes County area, but didn't turned up anything.
It turns out the call was a hoax.
Alabama investigators are now handling the case.
