School starts back soon and parents are gearing up to buy those back to school supplies. The Callaway Assembly of God is doing its part to help families get their kids ready.

The church is giving away school supplies this Saturday. Organizers are hoping to provide school supplies for 500 students. They've collected and bought pencils, backpacks, paper, and crayons. The items are already set up in the church for this Saturday's giveaway.

This is the third year for the project, which has grown each year. Church members say this is one way they can reach-out to the community and help during tough economic times.

Garry Bracket, Pastor, said, "This is part of an outreach that we do in our community. Economic times being what they are right now this is our way as a congregation to give back into our community, so we're setup right now to have supplies for about 500 students. We're also going to have socks and underwear for children this year, so we keep trying to expand this into some basic essentials for the children."

The school supply give-away is this Saturday morning from 8 to 10 at the Callway Assembly of God Church off Tyndall Parkway on Cherry Street.

You'll also get a chance to see the church’s newly renovated sanctuary.
