Gas prices around town are dropping and that's good news for anyone who plans on hitting the roads.

We spoke with some people earlier on Thursday who were filling up their tanks and they hope those prices continue to fall.

We found gas stations on Highway 390 in Lynn Haven with prices for a regular gallon of gas hovering around $3.92. That’s about a 10 cent drop within the past 2-3 weeks.

"I guess the oil prices are going down a little bit so I guess gas is going down with it," Chuck Thiele, a Lynn Haven resident said.

In just the past three weeks, crude oil prices have dropped because the supply of gas has risen, thanks in part to a weakening demand.

It’s got Elizabeth Duffy smiling all the way to the pumps. "I'm happy with the price, that's why I came and filled up all the way today," Duffy said.

She drives a small car, and it still costs a lot to fill it up.

"It's at least $50 to fill up and it's not a very big tank; it only lasts me about a week," Duffy added.

For Thomas Hardy, he's just glad to even see a drop in prices. "I'm hoping it's not just something that's going to be temporary. I want to see it come on down," he said.

Experts say gas prices could drop even more after the summer travel season is over and after all the kids are back in schools.

However, Mother Nature could change that if we see another hurricane.

The highest gas prices in the nation are in Alaska at $4.68 a gallon. The cheapest is $3.81 in Oklahoma.

But, experts say the average price could be down to $3.75 by late August.
