TALLAHASSEE-- Governor Rick Scott said he will veto legislation that would allow some interstate speed limits to increase to 75 miles an hour.
The move comes on the heels of a state trooper getting killed on I-75.
The governor made the announced his decision on Tuesday when a reporter asked him about it. He's usually coy about possible vetos.
The governor has not even received this bill from state lawmakers, but he says law enforcement officials influenced his veto decision.
"I've heard from sheriffs around the state and other law enforcement asking me to veto the bill. I'm gonna stand with law enforcement and I want everybody to stay safe. I don't want anybody to be injured so I'm going to veto that bill," Governor Rick Scott said.
AAA Motor Club is appladuing the governor's decision to veto the higher speeds limits.
