PANAMA CITY BEACH - A Louisiana family is preparing to bury their teenager son who was killed in a traffic crash in Panama City Beach last week.

Funeral services for 17 year old Mark Robertson are scheduled for Friday in Theriot, Louisiana.

Robertson and his classmates were in Panama City Beach to celebrate their graduation from Westeminster Christian Academy in Opelousas, Louisiana a few days earlier. Roberston graduated with honors.

Panama City Beach Police say he was on his way back to his room at the Boardwalk Beach Resort, when a car jumped the curb on south Thomas Drive, hit a light pole, then hit Robertson, walking along the sidewalk.

Paramedics took Roberston to Bay Medical Sacred Heart, where doctors pronounced him dead.

The driver, 50 year old Lee Creary, was charged with drug possession, then released on her own recognizance. She could face more charges pending the outcome of the traffic investigation.

Robertson's family says he planned to attend LSU this fall on a scholarship.
