Six Arrested With Drug Charges Including An Assistant Public Defender

WALTON COUNTY-- Walton County Sheriff's Investigators arrested public defender, 61 year old lenny Platteborze Monday on drug charges. Authorities also said they seized drugs from Platteborze's Defuniak Springs office.

It was one of four areas investigators and prosecutors searched.

The others were a mobile home just south of Holley Lake, a wooded lot two blocks north of I10 and Highway 90, and a mobile home in the Sunset King Lake Campground. They say all four of the scenes are related to this case.

Platteborze was in court this morning for a bond hearing. A judge set his bond at $10,000.

The state attorney's office also says he's been fired from the public defenders' office.

Platteborze is one of at least six people arrested yesterday.

The others are 34 year old Erica Nowling who apparently lives with Platteborze at the Sunset King Lake Campground site, 45 year old Charles Alford and 21 year old Kaylee Schipper from the Jim Cotton Drive location, 35 year old Tony Rhodes from the West Cypress Avenue address, and 49 year old Tracey Burgess of Ponce De Leon.

Theyre all facing manufacturing and conspiracy to manufacture meth, and distribution of controlled substances.

Sheriff's investigators said they will release more details during a news conference set for 2:00 Wednesday afternoon.
