JACKSON COUNTY-- Jackson County Commissioners will start the process of hiring a new county attorney.
They're replacing Frank Baker, who resigned from the job in May, after a jury convicted him on federal bank fraud charges. So far 17 people have applied for the job. Commissioners Willie Spires and Chuck Lockey will be part of a five person search committee appointed Tuesday morning, to narrow that list to three finalists and rank them.
The committee will present then the list to the commission. Commissioners have not set a date to make the hire.
