The primary elections are now underway here in Florida. Early voting for the August 26 primary started today. The polls may not have been packed, but there were plenty of early voters.
Candidates lined the street outside the Supervisor of Election’s Office in Lynn Haven, just one of three early voting spots in Bay County. They're trying to reach the voters hitting the polls early.
Mark Andersen, Bay Supervisor of Elections, said, "Early voting got off without a hitch this morning. Voting is pretty steady, not overwhelming, which is a great thing, get everyone comfortable with everything that's going on."
Voters have different reasons for taking advantage of the two week early voting period, but one couple said it's to make sure they don't miss out.
Bob Dallas said, "When the election is, I may not be able to vote, so I know my vote is counted today."
Annette Dallas added, "We might be at a family reunion on that day, so I wanted to make sure I didn't miss the vote.”
